a makeup look : inked in pink

My friend Ju Li from http://frugalinwhite.blogspot.com/ showed me a picture of a pink makeup look. It was really simple : pink eyeshadow, blush and lips. Its a very pretty and wearable look which caught my attention because I love simple yet pretty and effective makeup looks.

For the eyes, I applied Maybelline's Color Tattoo in the shade Inked In Pink, a light shimmery pink. You could also use Nyx's Jumbo Eye Pencil in Strawberry Milk. Then I applied Mac's Star Violet (review here) at the outer corner of my lids to create more depth in the look. I applied a coat of Maybelline's The Falsies and I was done with the eye look.

For the base, I used Collection's Lasting Perfection concealer in the shade Light 2 and Maybelline's Dream Matte powder to set the concealer. For cheeks, I used Nyx's Desert Rose which gives me a natural flushed look.

I lightly filled in my brows with Maybelline's Masterbrow. Lastly for the lips, I used Marc Jacobs lipstick in Have We Met? (review here) and Nyx's butter gloss in Creme Brulee.

Thats it! Its a simple, achievable and a great everyday makeup look.

a makeup look : Chanel Spring/Summer Haute Couture 2014 runway makeup

I instantly fell in love with this makeup look when I saw it. I love the simple cat-eye liner and the glitter liner for the bottom lash line. It was simple yet so beautiful. I decided to re-create the look using affordable products which can be found in the drugstores.

Lets start with the eyes. For the black liner, I used Essence's Eyeliner Pen and drew a thick line and winged it out. For the glitter liner, I used Sephora's Mascara & Eyeliner (its a duo) in the shade Sassy Silver and applied it all over my bottom lash line. For cheaper alternatives to the glitter liner, you can use Maybelline's Colorshow crayon khol in Shiny Beige (which is less in-your-face) or Nyx's liquid crystal liner in Crystal Hip. I also used Maybelline's The Falsies mascara.

I primed my face with Benefit's That Gal primer and the Porefessional. For my foundation, I used Mac's Studio Fix Fluid in NC15 and set it with Maybelline's Dream Matte powder. For blush, I used Nar's Doucer (review here). For the brows, I used Maybelline's masterbrow in grey.

I couldnt really tell what lipstick the models were wearing as it sorta looks like they werent wearing any lipsticks at all. So I mixed two Mac lipsticks, which are Creme Cup and Creme D' Nude.

Thats it! Its really simple to recreate this look and you can even use it as an everyday or for a special occasion makeup look.

a weekend edit : haul! (fashion edition)

Part 2 of my haul.

First ever Abercrombie & Fitch purchase! It is a really soft hoodie and its not thick so I wont sweat in this crazy humid weather. I love it so much and I know that I will get lots of wear out of this as I love layering my outfits with jackets. (and it smells like A&F)

I bought two statement necklaces from Topshop. I love the details of the silver necklace (unfortunately one of the stones fell out ).

Simple and beachy, this will go well with so many outfits.

a weekend edit : haul! (beauty edition)

I just got back from Singapore and lets just say I did quite some damage there. I went on a hunt to only buy things which werent available in Malaysia and I was super happy with the stuff I got! So lets just dive in!

The no1 thing I wanted to get from Singapore. A YSL lipstick. Its the Rouge Volupte Silky-Sensual Radiant Lipstick in Rose Asarine (#34). It feels silky and smooth on the lips and it can last for hours and hours. It is super opaque and glossy. The colour is like a hot pink-red and is a great perk-me-up colour.

From Lush, I bought two pots of Let The Good Times Roll cleanser. I did use up a pot of this cleanser last year and I loved every moment of using it. It is the best smelling cleanser I ever had ( smells like caramel popcorn! ) It leaves my skin feeling soft and refreshed. I also bought a fresh mask called Love Lettuce. The person working at Lush said that it is great for oily skin. I cant wait to try it

I was on a hunt to find a foundation and I decided to
purchase the Mac Studio Fix Fluid SPF15 in NC15. I heard many good reviews on it especially for people with oily skin. I did apply it yesterday and it wore beautifully for 12 hours straight.

I wasnt expecting to find Batiste here as I had searched for this when I went to Singapore last year. But I found it in this huge Watsons (drugstore) and they were even on sale!

Maybelline in Malaysia does carry the Dream Matte line except for the powder. So when I saw it in Watsons, I was really happy and so excited to try it after hearing some of my favourite Youtubers like Missglamorazzi rave about it.

I got this hair mask from Thann after hearing Fleur De Force raving about it. It contains Nano Shiso Extract, wheat protein and jojoba oil. It is organic and one of their best selling product.

Victoria Secret body mist in Dream. Its sweet and not too overpowering. I needed a new perfume for school and I thought that this would be a good choice.

Last but definitely not the least, I got the Bobbi Brown Makeup Manual. I was so excited to get my hands on this book as i couldnt find it here in Malaysia. This book is filled with makeup tips and other stuff like skin care.

a weekend edit : MAC eyeshadow in Star Violet

I recently bought my first ever MAC eyeshadow in the shade Star Violet. It is a purplish-pinkish-brownish colour which is absolutely gorgeous. It is a Veluxe Pearl finish. I wanted an eyeshadow which isnt brown but I am not very adventurous when it comes to eyeshadows. So when I swatched this, I thought it was perfect!

Under the sun, its more pink than purple on me. Indoors, I can still see a hint of pink and purple but its mostly brown. The colour is so pretty and I cannot do it any justice by describing or showing it in pictures. You have to go to a MAC store and swatch it to truly see how beautiful it is.

It applies smoothly and its very pigmented and buttery. I use the MAC 217 brush and it makes applying this eyeshadow a breeze. I like to either apply it as my lid and crease colour, or use Urban Decay's Suspect on my lids and Star Violet in my crease.

It cost RM 65 (with the casing) and RM 49 if you buy it in a pan.

Overall, I am so happy that I bought this colour and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a something-different eyeshadow colour. I look forward to expanding my eyeshadow collection with more MAC shadows.

a brand : Topshop makeup // Nail Polish

Topshop nail polishes are my favourite nail polishes as they are affordable and great in quality. They have a wide selection of colours and some of the nail polishes have different formulas. I have the colours : Dunagree Dream, Daredevil, Big Smoke, Twilight Tease and Wisdom.

The bottles of the nail polishes are rather small but although you dont get as much product compared to OPI or China Glaze,it is just right for me because who can actually finish an entire bottle of nail polish? Plus the packaging is so pretty and simple.

The formulas of the nail polishes are really good and opaque. Most of the colours might require two or more coats for a really opaque look but the matte formula only required one coat! They usually last about 5-6 days without chipping.

The nail polishes usually cost around RM 29-36 depending on the formula. It is affordable and worth it as I am usually unwilling to fork out more than RM 50 for nail polishes.

So if you are interested in trying out Topshop's nail polishes, I definitely recommend them. :)
